SEPATON’s patented ContentAware™ technology collects metadata from the backup stream as it is received. DeltaStor data deduplication software uses this metadata to identify relationships between objects (e.g., files, email, databases, etc.) in the backup stream that indicate the presence of duplicate data. DeltaStor then perform byte-level comparisons of these objects for maximum capacity reduction. This approach enables both seamless scalability of deduplication across multiple processing nodes and sustained wire-speed performance during backup and restore operations regardless of variable change rates in datasets. It also enables DeltaStor to handle application-specific requirements.
