Entitled, “Clouds Ahead: Data Protection Implications for Cloud Computing,” the session will be held on Wednesday, October 13th at 3:05 pm. Ms. Mentzer will discuss the business and technical implication of both public and private clouds, including the need for more robust tracking and reporting of data protection resource usage at the business unit level for efficient charge-back; the ability to back up data using multiple protocols and backup applications; the requirement to provide multi-tenancy to protect multiple entities on a single system; the security considerations for data in-flight and data at rest; and the scalability required to add capacity and performance as needed. She will discuss the technical requirements of cloud providers who need storage pooling, large capacity, and advanced management tools to manage multiple clients in a single scalable platform for optimal cost effectiveness.
